Breast Cancer Benefit

Last night we cohosted our Breast Cancer Benefit with Women's Wine & Dine- it was a smashing success! I wanted to post pics of some of our amazing goodies before I head back to the spa for cleanup. Weren't my shoes the perfect touch?

Girleens, as you know moi is not a domestic goddess. I ordered a bra cookie cutter for the event. My normal cookie girl was unavailable due to the flu. So I had to decorate them. I'm fully aware they look like a 6 year old created them. My skill pertains to make-up, not icing...they were cute anyway!

Bon Bons from the Decadent Debutante are my absolute favorite! Seriously I dream about them. People have one bite & are hooked forever! We were so thankful that they were a sponsor & generously donated their treats for our event. Of course all flavors were housed in various shades of pink!

These cupcakes from the adorable & talented Travis of Crazy Delicious were a huge hit, as well. The icing was so light & buttery, not at all heavy. When a few got damaged in transport, the beauty team went after them like wild animals!

These caramel apples were the bain of my existence! When I envisioned them in my head, I had no idea what a pain they'd be to make. Very uncooperative, but still super yummy! The boutique was a vision in pink to say the least! Everyone had a great time for a great cause. Stay tuned next week for behind the scenes pictures! Alright my beauties, the spa beckons- so off I must go! Have a great day! What are you guys going to be for Halloween?

What Will They Think of Next?

We carry an amazing line of hats at the boutique during the summer from a company called Walleroo. They are ingeniously made from fabric that has a built in SPF factor of 50! We also offer skincare treatments at the spa that feature another amazing technology by the way of FDA approved Revitalight. The device uses different color Light Emitting Diodes that fight the signs of aging and heal acne. Now a Toronto based company called SunSoul is manufacturing shirts with Fluorescent Therapeutic Materials, a first-of-its kind fabric that not only boasts excellent UV protection, but also selectively enhances the sun's healthy bands to benefit your skin. What does this mean for those who have suffered from stubborn"bacne" ? Well when wearing SunSoul's blumöd shirt , the material transforms broad-spectrum light(sunlight) into a narrow wavelength of blue light, which improves the appearance of blemished skin by killing acne-causing bacteria. Your shirt could be clearing up chest or back breakouts while out riding your bike or taking a hike! The blumöd shirts are made to be worn in the sun for at least two hours each week, as the results increase with the amount of sun exposure. I can't wait to hear if it really works! If any of my beauties try it- let me know, just be sure to reapply SPF to areas not covered by this magical new invention!

PS- make sure to comment on your favorite skincare as an entry for my pj's giveaway!

Save the Tatas

Owning a spa has allowed me to meet some amazing women. I am honored to call many of them my friends. Too many have been touched by breast cancer. This week we are cohosting an event called Beauty & Bubbles to Benefit the Boobies- cute yes?

At this cocktail party our attendees will sample a selection of Bubbly from Monyka Berracosa of Women's Wine & Dine and nibble on delectable desserts while I give some great ideas for holiday make-up looks. Proceeds will benefit St. Joseph's Breast Center, which has literally been a life saver for some of my clients. In another fund raising effort, I created these adorable baseball t's with 3/4 sleeves. Scoop one up while you can at PeaceLoveLipgloss. They are at steal at $30 with proceeds again benefiting St. Joseph's. FYI They run a smidge small, but are so cute & comfortable & make a great gift!

Must Have Monday

I've been known to smuggle my soda & gummi bears into my weekly movie excursions. I know it's a bit hypocritical that I can justify the price of Louis Vuitton bag(they last forever!), but not a $4.50 bottled water. That paradigm established, am I insane to consider purchasing a $130 shampoo? What is the price for perfect hair? After Lucky magazine glowingly reviewed Philip B.'s new Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo last month, I haven't stopped thinking about it. Visions of me skipping down a sidewalk with fabulously, bouncy perfect hair flood my daydreams. This month Lucky's offering 30% off the shampoo & all Philip B. products with coupon code: luckybreaks6. I'm going to try it. Am I crazy? Tell me my beauties, what's the most you've ever spent on a product that was worth every penny?

Peace. Love. Philip B(etter be amazing!) M

I Can't Believe I Just Did That!

Picture this house at midnight. Dark, slightly foggy & a chilly 45 degrees. Add yours truly after having locked myself out after taking the trash to the curb. Same cute dog, a little confused...Yep, I couldn't believe I just did that. Did I mention, I was a vision? Not a shred of make-up and a mismatched pair of pajamas complete with a dollop of salad dressing on the sleeve from dinner. Just gorgeous. Thankfully my neighbor Maureen helped me break back into my house!

Lesson learned? Get some new cute pajamas and wear said cute pajamas always. The story is actually a great intro into my first blog giveaway! Win this adorable pair of Uppsee Daisees pjs! The set includes long pants, a tank & matching shelf bra in size medium. Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! To enter to win- just leave a comment as to your all time favorite skincare product & why. Tweet & mention on your blogs to earn extra entries. Let me know your total tally & good luck. I'll pick the winner on Halloween!

Island Chic

You know when you walk into a store and you want to move in? WEll forward my mail to Island Home- the chicest of island boutiques in Palm Beach.

The entire vibe is relaxed and beachy, you immediately feel calm. I swear I could hear the ocean, yet we were a few blocks from it.

The pallette is muted tones with soft washes of blue peeking thru here and there. It's no wonder I adore it there, since the majority of their furniture is from my beloved Oly Studio.

Yep even in my daydreams I'm lounging in a piece found in the store. Check out their new online site- tell them I sent you!

Inject Some Beauty Back Into Your Life

So this Thursday we're having our Injectables event at the spa featuring Botox & Juvederm. Since it's a medical procedure I won't be posting any pics from the event to protect people's privacy. I was particularly proud of our marketing, though!

I thought it would be cute to put a Halloween twist on our blasts. My clever phrases paired with Kristen from Milkmaid Press' graphic genius resulted in some refreshingly funny ads!

Make-up Must Have Monday

The media frenzy surrounding all things Twilight related continues. Timed perfectly to coincide with all the fanfare, is the unveiling of the franchise's very own make-up line. Necessary? No, but the packaging is at least intriguing. The line is divided into two segments, Luna Twilight & Volturi Twilight.

It's especially perfect that it's available for purchase now at Twilight Beauty since the line definitely has Halloweeny type of vibe.

So the countdown has officially begun & is exactly one month for all of my fellow Twilight fans out there for the next installment in the series! I'm marking off the days on my calender until New Moon comes out! Cannot wait. I cherished the books. I'm hoping that the New Moon movie is an improvement over Twilight. Thought it was exciting to see the book translated to film, I 'm not going to lie & say Twilight got two thumbs up in my opinion.

Regardless, the make-up is an interesting twist. No word as to whether these products were actually used on set, however. With prices points from $12-30, the make-up should be of fair quality. Will their main teen audience pay those prices? Tell me my beauties, will you be picking up a new product or have you already tried one?

Halloween Baby

If I had a baby I'd dress it up like this every day of the year. I'm not kidding. The onesies that look like green beans, red peppers- that would be their wardrobe. I would emotionally scar them!

It's my niece Lovely Lila's first Halloween! How cute would she be in this?!?!

Though I'm not usually a fan of themed Disney costumes, this little number is precious! She truly would be the Belle of the ball! Stay tuned for pictures of what her mother actually picked!

All Hail Argan

Being in the beauty business, there is a new must have skincare superstar that pops up almost daily. The latest buzzed ingredient about is Argan Oil. The Moroccan Oil haircare products have taken the salon world by storm by offering intense repair for stressed and overprocessed hair.

Moroccan women have been using this miracle oil derived from Agran tree nuts for thousands of years. There's a reason why. This antioxidant is chock full of vitamin E which nourishes the skin, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Supermodel Josie Maran discovered this ancient beauty secret while on a photo shoot in France over a decade ago. When creating her namesake make-up line, she turned to the miracle oil to replace harmful binders and preservatives in the cosmetics.

Even veteran make-up maven Adrienne Arpel has launched an Argan Oil collection within her Signature Club Cosmetics Collection! For someone who's been in the industry for over 4 decades & still looks fabulous- I'll have some of what she's having!

Dog Gone It!

It's my favorite time of the year, so of course I subject my dog to dressing up! Since my boutique's name La Papillon means butterfly, how about this cute little outfit for Bailey?

Is this a little more practical? With a little less costume, he'll be less likely to shred it! Maybe we'll just stick with his Superman costume- I wouldn't want to emasculate him!

Come on now people- this is fabulous! Since we're affliated with Be Medspa, I thought I'd post some Bee Halloween Dog Costumes!

I always thought I'd get a purse dog like this, but my 'dainty' rescue comes in at a svelte 60 lbs! More to love I always say! Happy Howlaween!

Chocolate to Help with Acne?

Yes Please! Frutels Acne Care Chocolate very well might be the answer to all of our prayers! This all natural premium dark chocolate promises to deliver " powerful antioxidants and micro-nutrients to support the body's defenses against the causes of acne and to clarify the skin from the inside out." What are the other ingredients contained in this magical chocolate? A variety of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamins B,C and E, folic acid, biotin and zinc. I'm worried about needing a diet pill for after the acne is cleared up, however the brand is sugar free & sweetened with Maltitol. Recommended dosage is 2-5 chocolates a day for prompt results. Too good to be true or will you bite?

Haunted House

Velcome to my Haunted House my beauties! Or one that I pieced together online, since my beauties know I'm no domestic goddess! I will rock out the costume, though!

I actually tried making these last year after I saw them on Martha Stewart- she makes everything seem so easy! They weren't, my version looked like a 6 year old had made them.

Super cute display options if you're having a Halloween party- love the hat!

My name is Madeleine & I love candelabras! I think lighting is so important in one's home. I have chandeliers of some type in every bedroom & the majority of my bathrooms. Yes I'm girly to the core! These string lights would be great in a creepy tree.

Though not functional, these glittered candelabras set the tone of elegant ambiance. I would hang the black one year round- it's such a statement piece. Whatever your plans are my beauties, I hope your Halloween is spooktacular!

Crazy for Cupcakes

Does this ever happen to you? I'm trying to give up refined sugar & carbs, yet wherever I go lately evil calorie laden desserts are staring at me.

Seriously you know you're jonesing bad if you stop to take pictures of said pastries...but they are works of art! Oh beauties this is making me quite grumpy! I'm trying to cut back on my beloved fountain Diet Pepsis, too! What are your favorite healthy snacks that get you through the cravings!

Beauty Binge

Do you know that studies show that when one is on vacation they tend to spend up to 33% more than usual? I plead the 5th. While in Florida meeting up with Best Friend Forever Baton Rouge I went on a little beauty binge... I popped into Victoria's Secret to checkout Christian Siriano's limited edition line for them. I have to admit, I wasn't impressed... no adventurous colors. In fact it looked like the same colors offered in the standard line, just in more expensive packaging. I ended up scooping up these goodies from the main Victoria's Secret line. I picked up: lipstick in Scrumptious, lipliner in Nude, lipgloss in Blushing, single shadows in Risk(green) & Sparkle(my favorite- a shimmery soft coppery nude) & their shadow quad in Sultry. Overall I was pretty pleased. Though the shadows aren't intense, they have a nice buttery feel. I picked a nice wardrobe for a nude glossy lip(I know shocker!) The lipstick was a very opaque light peach & the sheer pink gloss balanced it out well. With all items coming in at under $15 a piece, I was a happy recessionista!

House Beautiful

Alas this is no longer the view I have when I gaze up sleepily while napping. No more Florida sunshine and no more napping for that matter, I'm officially back to reality!

I hopped down to Delray Beach for a night during my vacation & stayed at a friend of Partner in Crime's. Her home was pure heaven, seriously I bet you I'd be nicer in the morning if I got to look over my infinity pool to the water!

Floor to ceiling windows letting in light and the crisp white color scheme was right up my alley.
Surely, they wouldn't notice if I just stayed forever?

I'm a shabby chic girl, but in every room I appreciated the great modern feel of the home. I seriously never wanted to leave! So thanks M, I'll be back as soon as I can for your great hospitality & amazing home! Now back to the real world.

Delray Beach Bound

Well my beauties I'm headed to Delray Beach to visit Partner in Crime for the night. How funny is it that when I told her I was getting out of town, she said she was too- & only a 1/2 hour away! It's sad to say that I very rarely travel outside of Palm Beach, so it will be fun to try something new. I fly home tomorrow & I must say I miss Bailey & my own bed! It will be good to be home. I can't wait to show you all the beauty loot I picked up along the way in next week posts! Have a good weekend!
