About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Kerry Washington's Emmys Look

I adore Kerry Washington's classic elegance. She can do no wrong in my book- except not let us in on the details of her recent wedding! At least we can get a beauty breakdown as to how she got so gorgeous with the help of Make-Up Artist Carola Gonzalez featuring Hourglass Cosmetics for the Emmys.

Here’s how to replicate her look:
COMPLEXION: Prime the skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, and follow with Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation in warm beige. “I’m really impressed with the airbrushed finish this foundation creates,” says Gonzalez. “And I really don’t need to use powder anymore.” Conceal any imperfections (as if she has any) with Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer in honey.

BROWS: You Beauties know by now- brows make a big impact! Define the brows with Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette.

EYES: Apply the mauve shimmer shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Exhibition to the inner corner of the eyes and the lids, and the eggplant shimmer shade to the outer edge of the eye and beneath the bottom lash line. Blend the two shades together. I remember several artists used this exact shadow combo last awards season, I might need to have it!  Ardell Natural Lashes were applied in 110,  the eyes were lined with Hourglass Script Precision Liner in Jett, and finished off with three coats of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara.

CHEEKS: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light was dusted on the cheekbones, forehead, nose and chin.  Lancôme Blush Subtil in Sparkling Rose on the apples of Kerry's cheeks & was swept towards the temples.

LIPS: Lips were prepped prior with Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil for superior hydration. I always say to have your pucker hydrated- nothing looks good on dry cracked lips!  Her lips were then topped with Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss in Truth, a beige rose, for the finishing touch.

I don't know about you- but I have a few more wish list items in my Sephora basket at the moment!
Peace. Love. Lipgloss.

Serious SPF

I'm serious about SPF, both from a health and vanity standpoint. Treating hyperpigmentation has been a huge frustration for my clients, as well as myself. I always tell my clients that prevention is much easier than correction down the road. I'm wearing this very product at the US Open this weekend. Those of you who've been, know that the day matches are the equivalent of you being an egg in a frying pan!
While I use a liquid SPF every morning, I picked up these mineral SPFs by Physicians Formula that double as make-up to have both a physical & chemical sunblock on my side. I also like that I can dust it over my eyes, ears & in the part of my hair. I think this brand offers a really affordable option versus some similar prestige products that are easily double the price ($14.99). As we head into Fall, these are perfect for students playing outdoor sports to keep in their bags. It comes with its own little brush for quick & easy touch ups.
Peace. Love. Lipgloss.

Must Have Make-Up

I have been chomping at the bit for Hourglass Cosmetics to launch their Femme Nude Lip Stylo Collection since I featured it in a fashion week look in February! Finally it's arrived Beauties!
Hourglass products are always the best dressed girls at the party.  Their packaging is to die for!
They're in a niche all their own with their sleek, luxe metals & innovative housing. There are a few jumbo size lipstick crayons out on the market- none of them look like this! When touching up my lips throughout the day, this product garners notice.
Shade No. 4 is featured on my pucker, it's a peach based nude. ($30)
This collection is great for girls who love a nude lip, whether paired with a strong smokey eye or as a building block for the perfect glossy nude. The collection offers 6 hues to flatter all skintones & is creamy, but not a completely flat matte. It's pure indulgence.

Peace. Love. Lipgloss.

What I've Been Up To

Can you believe it's been a month since you've heard from me, Beauties? In the more than 5 years  I've been blogging- I don't think I've ever taken off more than a week at most. But exactly a month ago today I lost my Grandmother & everytime I sat down to write I had nothing to say. Words just wouldn't show up on the screen. She lived a full & happy life, I know she's in a better place. It's just that the people who loved her who are still on this earth don't know what to do with themselves. She was the original Glam Girl, I was named after her, as was my mother. She was a true lady- never without her cream blush (she loved Laura Gellar's mousse blush) & any coral lipstick I gave her.
We all know that this is true. I saw this & sent it to my mom.
So I ended up adopting one of my foster kitties, who I've named Callie. She is an absolute unconditional love- which my heart needed, though a bit of a kitten terror at the moment.
She's also a total 'catblock' (you should understand the reference) when it comes to anything on my laptop. She finds the key stoke sounds fascinating, so she lunges for my fingers- but basically believes both my lap & hands were meant to be holding her or petting her at all times. Did she luck out or what!
So I'm back, thank you for being patient while I've been mending my heart. A love for beauty & glamour runs in my blood so I promise I'm not going anywhere. This was my Grandmother's signature scent, she gave me a bottle of it that now sits on my vanity. Keep Calm and Glamour On.

Peace. Love. Lipgloss.

It Cosmetics' Your Most Beautiful You Collection

I love discovering indie brands, it's like discovering buried treasure. Before lines like Bare Escentuals & Kate Somerville were well recognized brands I had been working with the products for years. It Cosmetics is one of those brands to watch- if you're not familiar with them, you soon will be. Having met the founder & president, Jamie Kern a few times makes me happy for her- as she's a doll. This Saturday they're unveiling a new lipgloss launch(& my Beauties know how I love some lipgloss) which is included in their TSV for QVC.
The kit includes one of the two cult favorite products that first landed It Cosmetics on the map, Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. It's a full coverage, yet non cakey under eye concealer that boasts some serious skin care benefits. You only need a tiny bit of Bye Bye Under Eye its coverage is so good- the jumbo sized tube in this kit will last you eons.
The other product that help build their brand was their original universal brow pencil. Well meet the upgrade- their YBBB Brow Pencil (Your Brows But Better.) This one actually is formulated to condition the hair & stay put.  I love the super skinny pencil which helps mimic actual strands of hair for natural looking coverage.
This TSV marks the debut of It Cosmetics' Vitality LipFlush Hydrating Gloss Stain. In the tube, the Je Ne Sais Quoi looks milky white & very light. When swiped on it gains intensity.
On super lazy days, I always tell clients as long as your skin is good condition & brows are groomed you can get out of the house with lipgloss & mascara. LipFlush develops into a lovely pink on my pucker that wakes up my entire face without being overpowering. Unlike some stains that feel drying or even crumbly in texture, this is a hybrid gloss stain infused with 9 types of butters & oils that feels very moisturizing on throughout the day.

Hello Light Anti-Aging Creme Luminzer rounds out the stellar line-up of products. I dab this highlighter above the bow of my mouth & the outer corners of my lower lip for some lift. It looks lovely on the collarbones, as well. For brightening & concealing of my hyperpigmentation on my cheek bones- I sometimes blend the Bye Bye Under Eye & Hello Light using the Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation/Concealer Brush to apply. Speaking of heavenly- if you haven't tried It Cosmetics brushes- they're divine. As a professional make-up artist, I have some brushes in my kit that cost close to $100 on their own. TWO amazing tools of the trade are included in this collection. Hop over to QVC tomorrow & ask for item no. A235134- it will be at a one day price of $59.96. Happy weekend Lovelies.

Peace. Love. Lipgloss.
