About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Easy Holiday Hair How To

My areas of expertise lie in make-up & skincare, in fact I often say I'm hair challenged! However I do have a signature look & I'm always doing demos on clients. It's super easy- yes even I can do it! It's romantic & perfect for the holiday season- so of course I'm going to share it with my Beauties!
This easy updo works best with shoulder length hair or longer. Grab a stretchy headband- we carry Medusa's Heirlooms at the spa & that is what's shown in this tutorial. Start by placing the headband Olivia Newton John a la Let's Get Physical Music Video style across your forehead.
Back starting view.
Start at one end, by taking small sections & simply tucking it into the band of the headband.
Repeat with additional sections, to follow & cover up the previous section. It doesn't have to be perfect- that's the beauty of it- just keep tucking!
The updo will take shape before your eyes, with very little actual effort- that's the best part.
This style works with all hair types. I love it on hair with slight wave & highlights- it really brings the dimension of the color out.
You can leave the back section perfectly plain or can add easy embellishments! I tucked a feather in for one look.
For another look, I stuck a flower pin in her hair - the sky's the limit creatively speaking! I was even thinking a small, tasteful ornament could be gorgeous & unexpected for the holidays. To finish, just move the headband in the front to where you want it. For a Nicole Richie vibe, leave it as is. For a Grecian goddess vibe, pull it up like a traditional headband(refer to yesterday's post to see Brianne wearing it that way.) Whichever way you wear it, I promise you- you'll get tons of compliments. Now go forth & be pretty!

Bubbles and Baubles

It's time for our second annual Bubbles & Baubles Jewelry Trunk Show tonight! Shipments have been arriving all week. We have been like kids in a candy store discovering all the baubles that will be on display this evening!

I was captivated by these druzy & quartz bracelets! I'm on a druzy kick as of late & at least one of these from Mikala's Designs will be mine!

One can never have enough chandelier earrings & these from Calico Juno Designs will go with just about anything!
These initial necklaces from local jewelry designer Lotus Jewelry Studio are such classics! I have one. I gave one to my sister when she had her first baby with her & her hubby's initials + their little one's. They make the perfect bridesmaids gifts, too! Of course Medusa's Heirlooms hair baubles will making an appearance, as well as Tres Bon Bons to nosh on while sipping champagne. So if you're a Baltimore reader, we'd love to have you pop by La Papillon Spa from 5-8pm tonight! We'll see you there!

It's Time for Girl's Night Out!

I'm soooo excited for our Girl's Night Out Event tomorrow night! Who doesn't love a night with girlfriends? I'm in the midst of making a batch of Tres Bon Bons for it as we speak! We will also be having a fabulous Medusa's Heirlooms hair accessories trunk show that night. We love their stuff- hey if it's good enough for my beloved Bendel's in NYC, it's good enough for La Papillon!

Our Diva of Dermatology, Dr. Noelle Sherber will be offering an amazing special on Botox for Girl's Night, we added some hours on Girl's night since our day long Derm Event on the 21st is quickly booking up. We're offering to any new Botox patient 30 units for $100- the deal is bananas since the regular value is $390! Those that already love Botox will enjoy $100 off a minimum of 30 units.

Lastly, we have a really exciting guest joining us! Kaylin will be on hand doing lip readings! What is a lip reading? Just as someone can read your palms, they can read your lips & she will do so with the purchase of any lipstick or lipgloss tomorrow night. It's the perfect compliment to the official launch of our very own lipgloss line- 10 shades this lipgloss obsessed make-up artist custom created to suit any girl's fancy! The more the merrier, however spaces for Dr. Sherber & Kaylin are limited so please call to reserve your space! Hope to see you tomorrow!

Bubbles & Baubles Event

Our Bubbles & Baubles Event was such a blast! Fabulous jewelry designers & fabulous clients, who can one go wrong?

Champagne glasses filled with Chambord blackberry liquor or Canton Ginger Liquor awaited a fresh pour of bubbly upon the arrival of our guests...

I'm becoming quite the domestic goddess- yes? Bon Bons & pretzel rods in La Papillon's signature blue were the confections I lovingly made.

Our debut of the Virgins, Saints & Angels line became the focal point on our make-up bar.

Another artisan shot of the line.

Rachel Abroms' necklaces were saturated with semi precious stones, while her horsebit bracelets were a fan favorite.
Striking Sumaris pieces can start a conversation.

Our gorgeous Medusa's Heirlooms hair accessories had girls ohhing & ahhing! It was like a breath of fresh air being able to bring in some new designers for the night. So much so, that Bubbles & Baubles might become an annual event. So if you couldn't make it out to this one, there's always next year! Have a good weekend beauties!

Medusa's Heirlooms

Medusa's Heirlooms are like confections for your hair. They always add a little sparkle and a little glam to your coif! I love everything about the line, including its fabulous owner Nicole.
I now have an official wardrobe of headbands because I love theirs so much! While working, I'm often waxing clients. To avoid possibly waxing some of my own hair off, I often have my hair up- Medusa's headbands always make me feel more polished.
Medusa's Heirlooms is a huge vendor for my beloved Henri Bendel in NYC- which is known for setting the trends. I wonder if this is the next big trend- since all of the girls at work were pining for these stone ponytail holders. I fended them off since no one is allowed to purchase anything until our Bubbles & Baubles Event this Wednesday! We hope to see you there!

Bubbles & Baubles Event

So a week from today will be the first time we've had a jewelry trunk show at the boutique & I'm beyond excited! We always have a great array of accessories on hand, but for the event we will be launching a new line, as well as bringing in several other designers in just for the night. I'm like a kid in a candy store at the moment as I'm dealing with vendors & for the next couple of days I'll be giving you a sneak peek at some of the creations we'll be featuring from the designers. And if you're in the area next Wednesday night, we'd love to see you at the boutique!
