About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Let there be Gloss!

So La Papillon's launch of Paul & Joe Beaute was a gorgeous success!
We all know my mantra- so of course I had to make some lipgloss cookies- a huge hit!
Nibbles started with crabcakes & jerk chicken from Piv's Pub, with sweet tooths being satiated with red velvet cupcakes from Kim's Confections!

This is lovely Leah, our guest make-up artist who produced glorious faces with radiant skin! God bless her, she left for Japan the next day for more Paul & Joe Beaute business!

Jennifer, a fellow member of the Junior League, & owner of Calista Cove looking runway ready after her session with Leah!

My new partner in crime, Dawn, from Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland & Be Lifestyle...We just got back from a New York buying trip for the boutique...we did some damage, but it was all for the clients-we promise!
Thanks so much to all of my beauties who made it. Keep checking the website for our beauty events- we promise they'll be a blast! Until next time. Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

Paul & Joe Here we go!

So I stumbled across this adorable little can of sparkling wine complete with petite straw while picking up the champagne for our Paul & Joe Beaute Launch event tomorrow night. Tres Chic!
I would so bring this to a house party just to be different. With the amount of stress in planning our event- I will pop one open tonight!
So I will update with pics from tomorrow night, but had to show our adorable Delish bath treats that look like cupcakes on the table topper...Clients keep thinking they're edible & we have to stop them from devouring them! They are the perfect little birthday or Valentine's treat!

We have these cute pink heart feather wreaths scattered throughout the store...for the holidays we switch to white circular versions...What is it about feathers that makes everything better?
So I am off to finish decorating the sugar cookies in the shape of lips to celebrate the unveiling of our online store www.peacelovelipgloss.com ... It's still in its finishing stages, but we're really excited! I must admit the cookies have been harder than I thought, my make-up artistry doesn't transfer to icing! Check back to see pics from the event & if you're in the Baltimore area- we'd love to have you! Until next time my beauties...Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

Keep Calm & Carry On

I have coveted this Shabby Chic vintage poster for months...After the intervention (operation organization) at my office a few weeks ago, I had a few epiphanies. More is not always more & that clutter all around you truly makes for a cluttered mind. Why don't we put half the energy into the decor of our offices when we spend a good 1/3 of our lives there? So covet no more, that baby in blue is on it's way. A perfect reminder for when I'm a spaz at work. So excited!
My boutique is definitely shabby chic in approach. Rachel Aswell is magic at pulling slightly disheveled pieces together into a cohesive sense of homey comfort. She obviously has fabulous taste as she carries the same luxury Claus Porto soaps as we do! Lather. Rinse. Repeat. M

Needless Mark-ups

How hot is this bed?! You could definitely get your 'sexyback' on in here
Love this luxe feel with the deco vibe of this room

This room is me to a T! All neutrals, with mirrors opening the space....Love it!

So I'm sensing a weekly if not daily column in the blog! My favorites in the Mail (yes I will work on a crafty name...) My favorite today is Neiman Marcus Home ( or as my Dad affectionately calls it- Needless Markups) You should see my dream home drawer in the kitchen- brimming with ripped out pages in ideas for that beach house I one day will get. Today's catalog did not disappoint! Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

That's Bananas

Hello Gorgeous!

To quote Rachel Zoe, " I die!" for this bedroom(yes I watch her show & yes I'll watch next season-she's such a fascinating creature- so little in stature, yet so much hair & vintage fur!)

Is it sad that I skip in eager anticipation to the mailbox every evening? Mail is both a blessing & curse-such a waste of paper(Time for Me catalog, As we change catalog-why am I getting these?!) but can be such glossy, pretty fun(Ballard Designs, Neiman Marcus, Us Weekly! ) Lately, I have been in such a redecorating mode I don't know what to do with myself(or the new pieces I'm acquiring since I live in a townhome...) Brocade Home is my obsession. Slightly over the top extravagance in crisp whites, mirrored finishes, & exquisite detailing. This is where I drift of to when daydreaming...Hope you're inspired! Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

Perfection in a tube...

Some search for the Holy Grail- but is it wrong that I can find religion in the perfect shimmer of a lipgloss? Owning a spa & gift boutique is a blessing and a curse at times my pretties...I spend a huge amount of my energy focused on finding the next great discovery when it comes to beauty, make-up & skincare. My customers are savvy and educated and expect nothing but the best. I'd like to think I deliver. My discoveries are little treasures I lovingly unveil to my clients, because I want the absolute best for them. But I'm not going to lie and say that my heart doesn't break a little every time a line I've discovered in its infancy grows up and becomes mainstream and it's time to let them go. I guess it's what it feels like for you moms out there when you know it's time to release your children into the world. For quite some time I've been searching for that new make-up line, the one that will put the flutter back into my heart and make me giddy the way only a good cosmetic can and I've found it! I've discovered Paul & Joe Beaute, from acclaimed fashion designer Sophie Aswalt....Besides the product being amazing, the packaging is exquisite- I mean to die for! It truly makes you glad to be a women, when let's face it there are many days when we aren't! It has finally arrived on La Papillon's doorstep and I promise all of my beauties- it won't disappoint! Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

Back from the Brink

I apologize my beauties, as I am just coming back from the brink of death due to the lovely stomach flu...Whilst lying on my bathroom floor the majority of Sunday night, I promised the deities above that I would take less for granted if they just took the poltergeist that had invaded my being. Though it was almost 4 days later, this morning I felt human! I savored the pleasure of waking up in my warm cozy bed-finally healthy. It is so true, how after having the flu, everything becomes new again. A glass of ice water with a crisp slice of lime, even being able to do a load of laundry- you have a whole new appreciation for all things mundane...So now I am on an all things detox phase since I figure the process was started for me! Hopefully, this year I will start to put the respect into taking care of my body, the way I take care of my skin. I sign off enjoying my fab detox tea- feeling happy to be healthy again.
Peace Love. Lipgloss. M

Sunday Lovely Sunday

During the week I am pulled together shop girl, but Sundays I challenge myself to stay in my pjs for as long as humanly possible! After savoring my cup of joe I lovingly reach for my remote in anticipation of my DVR list- what did one do before this amazing invention?! This mornings treat- Martha Stewart's The Art of Cakes II. One glorious hour of edible art that will blow your mind on the Style Network. I highly recommend you search for the rerun- you will have a whole different appreciation for dessert! Happy Sunday! Peace. Love. Lipgloss. M

Clean Sweep

I would love to say that one of these pictures is my office at work- all sleek, organized & serene. Alas this is not the case. I would be lying if I said I had never tripped over the pairs of pumps that linger in corners when they are thrown off and traded for my trusty black patent Danskos. My office, you see my beauties, often resembles all that is going on inside my head....Blushes, glosses, magazine clippings scatter my desks...lists of To Do's remain undone by the end of the day...and I must admit that for the girl with the chic boutique- I have been completely overwhelmed by my clutter. Enter Amy from Simplify Organizing. Yes- I admit, it was time for an intervention! So my day was spent confronting my piles and though exhausting- my office is now truly an "After" instead of the embarrassing "before." My resolution is to simplify everything this year, starting with making my office a simple, tidy sanctuary(since I practically live there I deserve it, no?)

Peace. Love. Tidy. M

Blog Envy

Wow- I'm not going to lie to you my beauties...I truly have no idea what I'm doing in this blog world! I spend the majority of my nights scouring the internet for the latest must have for the boutique so stumbling upon the blog universe is a completely new discovery for me! My fav webgirl Kristen of the blog All Things Lovely suggested I create one since I covet & treasure all things beauty- so Peace. Love. Lipgloss. was born...For rarely being at a loss for words- I now have stage fright! So much pressure when you look at how many are out there and how computer challenged I am. Quite frankly I think I also might have scared a poor blogger since I was trying to leave a comment, didn't realize it had to be approved & quite possible am having a restraining order taken out against me at the moment( I jest...) Thank the lord for Jennifer from Life in The Cove blog for assuring me I am not that challenged and guiding me along the way! Peace. Love Lipgloss.M
